At Luna: My AI Companion, we value your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your data when you use our App, including how your data is processed by the third-party AI providers that power your companion.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
We collect information you voluntarily provide to us, such as:
- Account information (username, email address).
- Chat messages you send to your AI companion.
- Conversation memory and preferences derived from your interactions, used to give the companion long-term context.
- Profile and customization data (companion name, gender, selected appearance / skin).
- Feedback and correspondence you send to us.
1.2 Automatically Collected Information
When you access the App, we may automatically collect:
- Device information (model, operating system version).
- Usage data (session duration, features used).
- IP address and general location data.
- Diagnostic and crash logs.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information for the following purposes:
- To provide and maintain the App's functionality, including the AI companion's responses, voice playback, and long-term memory.
- To improve and personalize your experience.
- To communicate with you about updates, security alerts, and support.
- To monitor usage trends and prevent fraud or abuse.
3. AI Processing & Third-Party AI Providers
To generate the companion's replies and voice, we send a portion of your data to the following third-party AI providers, who act as data processors strictly on our behalf. We obtain your explicit in-app consent before any data is transmitted to them.
3.1 Microsoft Azure OpenAI
We use the GPT Realtime and GPT-4o models hosted on Microsoft Azure AI Foundry as the central orchestrator for conversational logic, contextual flow, and auxiliary tasks (such as paraphrasing real-time search results, processing weather updates, and generating contextual conversation hints).
- Data sent: your chat messages, conversation memory, companion ID, and session ID.
- Purpose: generate the companion's replies and contextual suggestions.
- Training: Microsoft Azure OpenAI does not use your data to train or improve their foundation models, in accordance with Azure's enterprise data processing terms.
3.2 Cartesia
We use Cartesia's text-to-speech service to generate the companion's voice from the text replies produced by the AI.
- Data sent: the text content of the companion's replies (not your messages).
- Purpose: synthesize natural-sounding companion speech.
- Training: Cartesia does not use your data to train their voice models.
3.3 Your Consent & Control
The first time you start a chat, the App displays an in-app consent screen describing the data sharing summarized above. You may decline; if you do, AI chat features will remain disabled until you opt in. You can revoke your consent at any time from Settings → AI Data & Privacy in the App.
4. Other Sharing with Third Parties
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. Outside of the AI processors listed above, we may share your information only in the following circumstances:
- Infrastructure providers: trusted vendors who assist us in operating the App (e.g., cloud hosting, push notifications, analytics, crash reporting), subject to confidentiality and data-protection agreements.
- Legal Requirements: if required by law, regulation, or legal process.
All third-party processors we engage are required to provide protections equal to or greater than those described in this Privacy Policy.
5. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your data:
- Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: request correction of inaccurate data.
- Deletion: request deletion of your account and associated data.
- Withdraw AI consent: stop the App from sharing further data with the third-party AI providers, at any time, from Settings → AI Data & Privacy.
6. Data Retention & Account Deletion
We retain your personal information only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. You can delete your account at any time from within the App.
- After you request deletion, your account enters a 30-day soft-delete window. During this window your data is no longer accessible from the App, and you can restore your account by signing back in.
- After 30 days your account and associated data (chat messages, memory, profile) are permanently deleted from our active systems.
7. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under the minimum age of digital consent in your country (typically 13 or 16). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, including when the AI providers, the categories of data shared with them, or our retention practices change. When we make material changes, we will notify you in the App and ask for your renewed consent where required.
